"High quality research evidence underpins all our clinical services and our aim is to establish a culture of appreciative enquiry within the trust. We want to use research to improve the quality and value of care for our own patients, as well as to contribute to the worldwide evidence base for better mental health care" Colin Martin, chief executive, Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust

What we do
The research and development team works across the whole of the trust linking closely with clinical teams and service users offering a variety of local, national and international research studies to ensure cutting edge, evidence based care.
We offer research opportunities to our service users, raise awareness of clinical trials and promote national campaigns. The Trust also has a clinical trials pharmacy, based at West Park Hospital, Darlington, with a dedicated experienced team which consists of a senior clinical pharmacist and a senior pharmacy technician.
The research and development team is available to help if you are interested in conducting your own research. We work in partnership with a number of organisations to widen research opportunities for our service users.

We are currently working with Emergence, a national service user led organisation, with the aim of setting up a research project designed and led by people with experience of personality disorder.
