Parkside Mental Health Resource Centre is now officially open20 Feb 17
Parkside Mental Health Resource Centre (MHRC) in Middlesbrough has been officially opened today, Monday 20 February.
Lesley Bessant, our Trust chairman marked the occasion by unveiling a plaque at the new base which provides community mental health services for adults living in the Middlesbrough area.
TEWV has invested over £2m as part of its commitment to modernise the way in which it provides mental health services.
The psychosis, early intervention in psychosis, access and affective disorders teams, previously located at both Phoenix Lodge in Middlesbrough and Lakeside in Hemlington, moved into the modern building in December. Parkside MHRC provides a community team hub for the four adult mental health teams across Middlesbrough. The teams provide offer assessment, support, treatment and therapies to those who need specialist secondary mental health services.
The building provides a modern purpose-designed environment for people with mental health conditions who need to access our community adult mental health services. Service users have been involved throughout the interior design process choosing colour schemes and wall art which now adds to the welcoming environment.
This includes consultation, therapy and meeting rooms for the benefit of our service users and staff along with disabled access. All meeting rooms have been designed so that they have flexible use, with one being designed to accommodate art therapy sessions.
Lesley Bessant, Trust chairman said: “I am delighted to have officially opened the new Parkside Mental Health Resource Centre today. This modern facility will help us ensure that we continue to provide the highest level of care and support to those who need it.”
